[lowdosenaltrexone] LDN as preventative

My husband started taking LDN because I insisted. Here's my reason: twice a year he would get a slight fever and mildly stuffy nose, which always resulted in a single Shingle on his upper chest. He never noticed any of this, and I began to track these events in conjunction with my own illness. After a while it was clear they were connected.

Very mild symptoms and a single Shingle were the extent of it for him, but each time it happened I would get a massive outbreak of Shingles.

I asked him to start LDN at the same time I did (July 2009), which he did. He hasn't had any illness or symptoms to speak of since then, not even one Shingle.

After a few months of taking it he decided he would stay on LDN for life as a preventative and stamina-builder.

He is 58 and said his stamina for physical work doubled. Prior to LDN it would take a full M-F week for his body to recover from doing remodeling work over the weekend. Now he is *fully* recovered usually by Tuesday evening, or at the most Wed evening.

****I would love to be able quote the names of some experts, physicians and trusted medical personnel who take LDN as a prophylactic!****

Hi everyone,

I'd like to thank those who took the time to respond to my previous posts. (Big thanks) And also, to the care that people take on these boards to help others.

I have another query, if anyone would be kind enough to share and comment.

Are there people using Naltrexone as a preventive? NO illness.

And if so, What prompted you to do it? How long have you been using naltrexone for this purpose?

What is the best dosage to start at, and how high a dosage is recomended? (Is it still 4.5mg in this instance)?

Has anyone attempted to go to a doctor to get a script for this purpose?
And if so, were you successful?

Again, thank you in advance for your kindness.
